Days after holding a mammoth rally in Garissa, the Wiper party of the opposition coalition CORD is expected to hold a similar rally in Wajir on Wednesday Nep Journal has learnt.

Preparations for the event have already completed with tents erected in Wajir’s famous Orahey grounds.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his deputy Farah Maalim are expected to grace the event which is also set to endorse the party’s candidates in Wajir County.

Wajir East parliamentary aspirant Rashid Kassim who narrowly lost the seat to the incumbent Abass Sheikh in the last elections on a Jubilee ticket was a surprise presence in the Garissa rally two days ago and is set to be officially unveiled by the party in Wednesday’s function.

Wiper is seeking to expand its presence in the region after recording massive success in Garissa in the last elections.

Governor Nathif Jama, Women representative Shukran Gure and host of MCAs were elected on the party’s tickets in 2013.

Already, Farah Maalim has ditched ODM for the party in a tactical move aimed at unseating Majority leader Aden Duale.
