Mohamud leads the pack in North Eastern followed by Mandera’s Ali Roba with 41% while Garissa Ali Korane has an approval rating of 38%.
Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana was leading the pack of Governors with an approval rating of 64%.
The residents of Wajir, who were interviewed during the polls, cited successful consultative public participations and service delivery in key Government sectors as well as initiation of pro-poor programs as the main reasons why they have given the Governor and his administration a higher approval rating.
Governor Mohamud, who is the immediate former Ambassador of Kenya to Saudi Arabia and a seasoned politician, is the only Governor in the frontier counties who has set aside funds for the development of County wards through the Ward Development Fund.
In the current Budget and Appropriation bill that was passed by the County Assembly, the County government of Wajir has set aside about 10% of the budget to this initiative which the Governor has said was “a very important integral component of his 2017-2022 Transformational Agenda Plan”.
