Elected leaders from Wajir have called on warring clans to end the persistent bloodshed due to clan animosities in some parts of the County.

Speaking when they visited Eldas for the burial of four people killed in the area on Monday, the leaders led by Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi also urged security agencies to up their game and ensure the perpetrators were brought to book immediately.

“These indiscriminate killings are becoming an endless cycle of stupidity. Together with Tarbaj MP, Hon. Mohamed Elmi and Abass Sheikh of Wajir East, we condemned the killings and asked the residents to stay calm” said Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi on returning from Eldas where he attended burial of the victims.

Border disputes and jostling over grazing lands have been the cause of the clashes which normally intensify when elections near.
