Gubernatorial aspirants in the last election Ahmed Muhumed and former Governor Ahmed Abdullahi challenged in court the election of Mohamed Abdi Mohamud as the latter’s successor. Muhumed has denied reports they have withdrawn the case.

One of the candidates who vied for the Wajir County Gubernatorial seat in the last elections Ahmed Muhumed Abdi has denied withdrawing a petition challenging the election of Mohamed Abdi Mohamud in the August 8 polls.

Ahmed said he hoped to see the case run to its logical conclusion and assured supporters that may happen before the end of the year.

“The pre-trial hearing will carry on this coming Friday 6th to iron out the contentious and non-contentious issues with a full hearing scheduled to incept on 16th October” said Ahmed popularly known as Caatow.

The aspirant has already lost his deputy designate during the elections who was the former Deputy Governor of Wajir Abdihafid Yarrow after he was appointed an Executive Committee Member by Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud.

Caatow has however ganged up with former Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi who is also challenging Mohamud’s election.

It is not clear how the two would collaborate should their case see Mohamud’s election nullified.
