Children with disability in Wajir town were yesterday given a reason to smile after the County First Lady Rukia Abdinasir donated several items to the children.

Parents of the disabled children converged at the Wajir County referral hospital to receive the donations courtesy of Northern Kenya’s most active First Lady.

Among items donated were wheelchairs, gloves, toys and other protective materials for the children with disability.

“We thank our First Lady for the positive gesture, my son will now be able to move from one place to another with ease. I couldn’t afford to buy him a wheelchair but now thanks God he has received one” said Gedow, Father of seven year old Mohamed Gedow who received a wheelchair.

The function was also graced by County Executive for Education, Gender, Sport, Culture and Persons with Disability Habiba Hussein as well as the Director for Sports, Gender and Social Services Halima Ali Omar.
