A suicide car bomb targeting security forces was blown up at the entrance of the Blue Sky restaurant on Saturday afternoon.
According to security forces two people were killed and six others wounded after a white Toyota Corolla filled with explosives was detonated outside the Blue Sky restaurant.
Somali police officers have confirmed that the incident occurred close to the presidential palace at Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital city.
Capt. Mohamed Hussein said the Saturday afternoon blast occurred at restaurant close to the presidential palace.
He said the restaurant is used by civilians as well as security forces who work at a nearby prison run by Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
Alshabaab terror group, Al Qaeda’s East African affiliate which often carries out such attacks has shortly after the explosion claimed responsibility.
The terror group who continued to wage battle with government officials and its security forces for a decade has recently used new tactics to carry out lethal attacks in many parts of the Country.
Despite losing a lot of grounds in recent years, the terror group focused targeting hotel industry used by government officials, security officers and foreigners.
