Three AP officers killed, two injured after their vehicle hits IED blast.

At least three soldiers were killed and two others critically injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) allegedly planted by militants struck their vehicle near Kulan dam, Liboi district of Garissa County on Wednesday, security official said.

The 8 administration Police (AP) officers were attached to Kulan Administration Police Post and they were travelling along the Liboi-Milan road when their vehicle run over an IED blast.

Out of 8 officers on board three died on the spot, two sustained serious injuries while the other three escaped unhurt.

The officers were travelling in a police land cruiser of registration number GK A 894Q at the time of the attack.

Three who died on the spot include: Issack Aden Durow (Inspector Police-IP), Khalif Yussuf (Administration Police Constable-APC) and Abdikarim Osman Yussuf (police driver).

Administration Police Constable Oliver Ochieng sustained injuries to both his legs and bruises on hands but in stable condition while his colleague APC Nahashon Omondi Ligale, suffered injuries on the head and neck but in stable condition are undergoing treatments.

The three other colleagues who survived the blast unhurt are Titus Mwangi, Peter Gakuo and Dennis Mwachir.

The latest deadly explosion came after Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet warned that some members of the terrorist group Al-Shabaab had sneaked into the country and were planning attacks.

The IGP, however, said that police were on high alert, but asked the public to be vigilant and report suspicious people to the police.
