Prime Minister of the Federal government of Somalia Mr. Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke today held talks with Kenya’s Deputy President Mr. William Ruto at his office in Harambee House annex.
The two leaders discussed issues ranging from security of the two countries and the status of the Somali refugees in Kenya.
Although Kenya hosts the largest number of Somali refugees in the world, it has recently been rooting for closure of the Dadaab refugee camps citing increased terror attacks.
Majority leader Aden Duale who also attended the meeting and the Deputy President William Ruto were vocal in the calls to have the camps closed.
Kenya says the camps are breeding grounds for Al-shabaab militia which has carried out several deadly raids in the country.
147 people lost their lives earlier this month after the militia attacked Garissa University College in a dawn raid that lasted for close to 12 hours.
All the four attackers who were later killed by Kenyan special forces were confirmed to be Kenyan nationals.
The meeting was also attended by Foreign affairs cabinet secretary Mrs. Amina Mohamed and her industrialization counterpart Mr. Aden Mohamed as well as Fafi MP Mr. Elias Barre Shill.
