Two security guards of Moi University in Eldoret have been charged with raping of a first-year student of the same institution. Ezekiel Barmasai and Timothy Kemboi denied the charges of rape and indecent act before Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa.

The incident took place on the Friday night when the first year female student returned to her hostel. Students leaders claim the watchmen told the girl they will report her late return to the institutions administrations if she did not give in to their sexual demands. She had to comply.

The Moi university students on Sunday demanded for the suspects’ prosecution and threatened to take unknown action if there would be any reluctance to do so. The two suspects were later released on bail worth Ksh 500,000 each. The case is set for hearing on November 2.
