North Eastern Regional Coordinator Amb. Mohamud Saleh has ruled out direct involvement of the Somali based Al-Shabaab terror group in last night’s attack on Bishaaro hotel where 12 were killed and 10 others injured in Mandera town.
Speaking in his office while addressing the press Tuesday morning, Saleh said that preliminary investigations show that the 3.00 am attack was carried out by radicalized youth criminal gangs operating within Mandera town who used four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to blow up a section of the hotel.
The Statement comes hours after Al Shabaab reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is not the first time the administrator is breaking ranks with the usual narrative of linking all attacks to the Somalia based militants.
