A Kenyan teacher rescued from her captures has now been re-united with her family after she was airlifted to Nairobi by the Kenya Defence who rescued her on Friday in collaboration with their Somalia colleagues.

North Eastern regional commissioner Mohamud Saleh confirmed that one of the Kidnappers was killed and another arrested while four others escaped after they were overpowered by the combined Kenyan and Somali forces who carried out the rescue mission.

Judy Mutua was kidnapped on Monday after the militants waylaid their vehicle between Dadaab and Hagadera refugee camps. She worked as a teacher with Windle Trust International, one of the NGOs that operate in the World’s largest refugee camp.

Kenya’s Defence ministry said in a statement that the rescue mission was conducted by KDF’s Rapid Deployment Unit and Somalia National Army troops at Shaba-Difu, 15km into Somalia.
