The National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has been admitted to a Mombasa hospital few hours after addressing Kilifi county.

Through his Facebook page, Dennis Onyango who is Raila Odinga’s communications director confirmed that Odinga was rushed to hospital for a check-up with suspected food poisoning.

“Odinga was hospitalized after he felt slightly unwell at the Mombasa International Airport awaiting his flight back to Nairobi at around 6:45pm,” said NASA Secretariat CEO, Norman Magaya.

Doctors examining Mr. Odinga at Mombasa hospital said he feels quite comfortable and there is no cause for alarm.

Odinga was in accompany of Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetang’ula, Musalia Mudavadi, and Senator James Orengo at the time of his short illness.

They said Odinga himself felt that there was no need for check-up but he was persuaded by his colleagues who advised him to be admitted rather than traveling while unwell.

Odinga’s special advisor, Salim Lone said the Nasa chief is stable and responding well to treatment.

“We will update the country on what is going on as doctors are in the course of observing him in the next one hour,” said lone.
