Residents of Mandera are elated over the new up to date emergency center and maternity wing that is currently under construction at the Mandera County Referral Hospital.
The facility will be a medical hub for neighboring counties of Isiolo,Wajir and Marsabit once it is completed.
Mandera Governor Ali Roba visited the facility on Saturday and stated that it will boost medical services to the residents.
“The construction of the two facilities is in the last phases and will be operational 24 hours once it is opened,” he said.
The maternity wing will cost sh 64 million while the emergency facility will cost ksh 200 million to construct.
According to the reports the emergency centre will have intensive care and high dependency units.
“We will also have an up to date laboratory, a dialysis centre and a pharmacy at this facility once finished,” said Governor Roba.
The Governor added that the construction is expected to end in 3 months.
The project was praised by Mandera East MP and a former Deputy Governor Omar Mohamed Maalim who vowed to push the government to outfit the facility.
