NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga has sent out invitations cards for his Dec 12th induction ceremony.
The invite which was posted on the party’s coalition’s Telegram channel, says that the venue for the event will be communicated once the attendees are vetted.
Raila had on Tuesday promised his followers that he will take oath of office as Kenya celebrates its 54th independence anniversary.
“I will be sworn-in as President through the People’s Assembly and get into State House on December 12,” he said right before security officers dispersed his gathering using teargas.
“Uhuru Kenyatta is not the President of Kenya. We will not be sworn-in like [Ugandan Opposition leader Kizza] Besigye. We will be sworn-in like it was done with [Emmerson] Mnangagwa in Zimbabwe.”
Details of the event still remain scanty even though the invites have been sent .However sources privy to the opposition disclosed that the event is really happening “it is not just mere political talks”
Lawyer Nelson Havi says Article 1 of the Constitution as read together with Sections 87 to 91 of County Governments Act allows formation of People’s Assembly.
“Don’t pay attention to second-rate legal advice,” he told his followers in a tweet on November 26.
The invite comes out hours after the Judiciary said that they are not aware of Mr Raila’s induction plan and have not received any information as required by law from Nasa.
