Opposition leaders follow rally proceedings at Wajir stadium on Saturday April 1, 2017.

The National Supper Alliance (NASA) hold a mega rally in Wajir town following the recent defection of a section of leaders from the county to Jubilee Party.

Addressing residents who jammed the Wajir Stadium, NASA principals Raila Odinga (ODM), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford-Kenya), Hassan Joho (Governor Mombasa) among other leaders chided Jubilee administration.  They asked residents to rally behind the opposition to emancipate Kenyans from bad governance of the Jubilee regime.

The opposition leaders were received warmly by residents who had lined up along Ngamia club road as they headed to the stadium in a convoy.

Today’s first rally since the unveiling of their Coalition Agreement saw the leaders, who were out to paint NASA as a national outfit receiving thunderous applause from residents who started thronging the stadium early in the morning.

Nasa principals thanked Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi for his decision to stay in the coalition after rumors made round saying he wants decamps to jubilee party to retain his seat. They assured of their supports in his reelection bid in August polls.

“I want to tell his Excellency governor Ahmed Abdullahi… thank you for choosing to stay with NASA,” said Odinga.

He said Ahmed is among the few county chiefs who invested in development projects, saying NASA would pump in more funds into the devolution kitty if elected.

“I was invited by the Wajir Governor to launch the construction of the now completed 28-Km tarmac road within the town in 2015. My administration would deliver more tarmacked stretch of roads given the chance,” said Odinga.

Raila lifted governor Ahmed’s hand in the air saying “Leo nasema Ahmed tena (I say Ahmed once more)” to show his endorsement to the residents.

Mombasa governor Hassan Joho said we know Jubilee have been eying Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi because of his administration’s track record.

“We know they came around to you to defect, but you remained loyal to your party. We are grateful to your loyalty,” Joho said.

Two weeks ago, rumors have hit Governor Ahmed Abdullahi desk alleging a decamp to Jubilee after a source revealed that he met an official from State House on Wednesday, March 15, in an effort to persuade him to get the Jubilee ticket.

Abdullahi affirmed that he is in NASA and he has never mind to change his party, dismissing claims that he was spotted at Jubilee headquarters as he termed it as just a propaganda.

The rally came barely after weeks, Eldas MP and ODM national vice chairman Aden Keynan and his Tarbaj counterpart who is also a member of ODM Mohamed Elmi joined the Jubilee party.

Keynan and Elmi defected after a long tussle with Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi and are now backing former Kenyan envoy to Saudi Arabia Mohamed Abdi Mohamud to unseat him in the August polls.

Wajir County was a strong hold of ODM in Last general election as the opposition scoped five MPs out of the possible six Constituencies.
