Jubilee Party leaders from Wajir, business titans raised Sh 228 million towards Wajir gubernatorial aspirants Amb.Mohamed Abdi Mohamud’s campaign fund drive.

Amb.Mohamud who is well known as “Mwalimu Pekee” has asked campaign donors to verge their bets by funding him and their all-inclusive line-up for the County ahead of the 2017 polls.

It emerged that at least Sh228 million was collected in less than three hours in an exclusive dinner attended by Adan Keynan (Eldas MP), Abass Sheikh Mohamed (Wajir East), Ibrahim Saney (Wajir North), Mohamed Elmi (Tarbaj MP), and business tycoons on Sunday night.
The invite-only fundraiser which was meant to boost Amb.Mohamud’s election campaign kitty brought together business titans, youths, women and top county government officials at Laico Regency Hotel in Nairobi.

Mohamud who is contesting on a Jubilee ticket was formerly endorsed by the larger Degodia community, Ogaden and Ajuran communities of Wajir South and Wajir North respectively takes the lead to be the next governor in the hotly contested seat in 2017 August polls.
One of the committee member disclosed that the Amb.Mohamud will be doing a personal note to each of the guests thanking them for standing by him in what promises to be a tough poll.

In 2013 Elections, leaders who are now in the camps of Amb.Mohamud invested heavily to the incumbent governor Ahmed Abdullahi whom they have broken ranks with in what they said he failed to live up to the expectation of the people of Wajir.

They accused him of falling to build a cohesive and integrated society by engaging in selective and discriminatory development.
Just some months ago, Eldas MP Aden Keynan said Wajir went into reverse gear after devolution adding the County government failed to implement devolution structures in the sub-counties.

Wajir political analyst said that Amb.Mohamud has the highest node to win the seat but advised that he needs to be very careful on manipulation by politicians who will attempt to remote control him on grounds that they are one’s who give him the power he holds.

“He therefore, needs to be careful to avoid getting entangled in scams during his administrations,” said a political analyst.

Amb.Mohamud will square it out with the incumbent Ahmed Abdullahi, academician Salah Abdi Sheikh and Ahmed Muhumed.
