Unknown gunmen launched three simultaneous attacks in Mandera on Friday night but no casualties were reported.

The attackers, believed to be members of Al-shabaab, fired at three police stations and one of the homes of the Deputy Governor before fleeing.

Mandera county police commander Noah Mwivanda said the militants had divided themselves into groups before launching the attacks at Mandera police station, Tawala police station at the border point, and the private home of the deputy governor.

Police could not immediately establish who the attackers were but Al-Shabaab is known to carry out coordinated attacks in the town mainly targeting security personnel and other Government installations.
