STATEMENT BY HON. JAMALDIN ADAN AHMED, MANDERA YOUTH MCA
MY REQUEST TO THE PRESIDENT TO GRANT A CHANCE TO MANDERA COUNTY YOUTH IN THE NYS YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES CURRENTLY BEING IMPLEMENTED IN OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY ESPECIALLY IN NAIROBI
The NYS Youth Empowerment Programme that works along the community youths (COHORTS) model, is a noble initiative towards empowering the youth with skills and economically uplift them.
It is of great concern to the youth of Mandera County, that not a single constituency in Mandera County has been considered as part of the constituencies in the programme.
The youth and the general public in Mandera County need to be given their share of the benefits and gains from the NYS Youth Empowerment Programme.
In Mandera County we have thousands of unskilled and unemployed youth who are at risk and vulnerable to exploitation by extremists who might take advantage of their unemployment and economic situation.
There is an urgent need for the programme to be an all-inclusive one. It is of significance to the people of Mandera County to receive its benefits, the same way as the other counties where the program currently being implemented.
As the youth leader and representative in the Mandera County Assembly, on behalf of the Mandera County youth, I hereby request the President HE Uhuru Kenyatta to consider the youth of Mandera County in the NYS Youth Empowerment Programme in all the constituencies in the entire Mandera County.
The youth of Mandera County too deserve equal empowerment and employment opportunities as the rest of the youths in the 69 constituencies nationwide where the programme is currently being implemented. If anything, they deserve more than other group due to the nature of problems they face as mentioned above.
JAMALDIN ADAN AHMED
