Unknown assailants attacked the offices of the County Government of Mandera on Monday night with rocket propelled grenades but no casualties were reported.
This is the third time the County offices are attacked but police officers guarding the premises managed to repulse the attackers after more than three hours of gun battle.
Part of the building was badly damaged by the attack.
Governor Ali Roba assured residents that the attackers will be brought to book and thanked the Central Government for beefing up security in the County and attaching more officers to the County Government.
In Nairobi, Members of Parliament from the County headed by Senator Billow Kerrow held a press conference and condemned the attacks.
Mr. Kerrow said that those attacks will not deter residents of Mandera County from realizing dreams of developing their own County.
On his part, Mandera North MP Adan Mohamed Noor said that given the tribal clashes witnessed in the County, the attacks cannot be solely blamed on Al-Shabaab as some elements could hide behind such blind accusations.
