Man killed in alleged KDF bus attack laid to rest

A man who was killed after Kenyan Defense Forces allegedly shot at a public service vehicle near the Kenya – Somali border was on Friday laid to recent in Liboi town.

The youthful man identified as Abdifatah Ali Mero was the conductor of the ill-fated Sagal bus plying the Dadajabula-Sarif-Garissa road.

Wajir South Member of Parliament Abdullahi Diriye condemned the incident and promised to take it up with the highest authorities.

“Wajir South mourns the death of Abdifatah Ali Mero, a young man whose life was cut short today by trigger happy elements within the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) who sprayed bullets on a passenger bus” said Diriye.

Several other passengers were seriously injured in the Friday incident and property of unknown value destroyed.

The incident comes hours after Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery issued a Statement refuting claims by Opposition leader Raila Odinga that the government was targeting the Somali and Muslim community at large in the war on terror.
