Elected Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and his former political rivalry Peter Munya have decided to bury the hatchet and work together side by side to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta wins the repeat October 26 presidential election.
The President hosted the two leaders in Nairobi State House today where he held discussions with them. Mr. Murungi and his counterpart agreed to go back to Meru County and spread the message of unity and carry out joint presidential campaigns in favour of Uhuru.
President Kenyatta thanked them and said their resolution to work together will actualize Jubilee Party’s agenda of uniting and integrating Kenyas as one people. Munya had previously pledged support for Opposition’s Raila Odinga- NASA presidential candidate before shifting his stand and backed President Kenyatta. He had vowed not to support Jubilee accusing it of rigging his win in favor of Kiraitu Murungi who was declared the winner in the gubernatorial seat on August 8 polls.
