Youth in Mandera have been urged to stay away from activities that encourage bad behavior and crime.
Speaking after attending the final match of Geneva Football Association Peace tournament played at Geneva grounds in Mandera on Saturday morning, Senator Billow Kerrow urged the county government to engage youth in meaningful activities and support them in their areas of interest such as sports.
The final match brought together Real Stima FC and South Pole FC, both from Township ward with the former carrying the day.
The tournament was sponsored by the county government through the efforts of the area MCA Faisal Abdinur.
Senator Kerrow announced his office was considering introducing an annual tournament dubbed the Senator’s Cup with a prize of Kshs 500,000/= for Mandera county football clubs.
“I am working on the details and will announce soon. As most residents of the county know, my home town of Rhamu is a soccer society; probably I am the only one from Rhamu who does not play soccer! Last year, they won the county championship” said the Senator.
Kerrow has been in county the past week.
