Kenyan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia in stable condition following road accident

Kenyan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammed Abdi Mohamud is in stable condition after sustaining injuries in a road accident in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Sunday.

Ambassador Mohamud was hit by a car at the diplomatic quarters in Riyadh while leaving his office and sustained injuries on the head and shoulder and was rushed to the King Khalid university hospital in Riyadh.

According to a local newspaper, the ambassador was hit by a speeding vehicle driven by a Saudi and the driver was immediately arrested by traffic officers who rushed to the scene.

The ambassador was visited by Saudi Foreign minister HE. Adel Al Jubeir who directed the hospital to provide all the necessary facilities needed to take care of injured ambassador.

The envoy is now in stable condition and expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Foreign ministry for the medical services and special care he received.

Mohamud served as the MP for Wajir East and served as Minister for regional development in the Kibaki led administration between 2002 – 2007.

He contested for the Wajir County gubernatorial seat in the last general elections on a TNA ticket but lost to the incumbent Ahmed Abdullahi.

Mohamud was later appointed the Kenyan representative to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in August 2014.
