Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a move for World Cup winner Mario Gotze in the summer.
Gotze has one year remaining in his current contract at Bayern Munich after moving from Dortmand in 2013.
The German has been hit by series of injuries and criticism over his training standards at Alianz Arena starting only five league games this season, scoring one goal.
Liverpool are scheduled to sign Schalke defender Joel Matip who is expected to move to Anfield on a free transfer in the summer.
When Klopp was asked of Liverpool interest on signing Gotze, he opted to talk about Joel.
“We can talk about Matip or something else, but not Mario.
“I am happy that he put in a good performance yesterday. But there is nothing to add from my side. He’s a player with extraordinary abilities and wants to return to full fitness after four months on the sidelines.”
