Heavy downpour reported in parts of North Eastern Kenya

North has witnessed a prolonged dry spell prior to the current rains.

Heavy downpour has been reported in parts of the three Northern Kenya counties. This comes after a biting drought spell dating back close to months.

Thousands of pastoral families hit by the escalating drought that has led to the drying up of water sources and depletion of pasture got relieved after receiving the blessed heavy downpour.

In Garissa, it rained in Garissa town and its outskirts, in Wajir heavy down pours have been witnessed in Wajir Town and Eldas. While Mandera County’s Garsey, Rhamu dimtu, Rhamu and Ashabito were among the blessed areas.

In some areas, floods and livestock deaths have been reported.
