Nurses in Wajir County will down their tools if the county government does not address their grievances in seven days.

In a strike notice dated May 28 and whose copy Nepjournal has seen, the Wajir branch of the Kenya National Union of Nurses accused health executives of taking them for a ride after previous attempts to seek better working conditions were met with empty promises.

The Union said that while the county government has worked on uplifting health standards in the area through construction of additional health facilities, employment of new staff and provision of ambulances, it has turned a blind eye on staff welfare.

It further said that health staff in the county were less motivated and poorly managed in comparison with other counties.
