Deputy President William Ruto has announced Garissa University College will resume operations in the near future once security modalities have been worked out.
Speaking at a dinner organized in his honor by House Majority leader Aden Duale in Garissa, the DP who is in town to leader a funds drive in aid of local Madrasas on Saturday morning said Kenya will not allow evil to prevail hence the need to immediately reopen North Eastern’s only institution of higher learning.
“I applaud the local leaders who have worked with our security agencies to restore peace in North Eastern” He said.
Ruto urged warring clans in Garissa to immediately halt conflicts and directed Regional coordinator Mohamud Saleh to ensure no stone is unturned in the current security operations in clashes hit areas.
The function was attended by local governors, MPs, MCAs, religious leaders, elders, women and youth representatives among others.
