Garissa governor Nathif Jama has intervened to sponsor a top girl who hails from a poor background family who couldn’t afford her fees.
Anisa who topped in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in Garissa County secured admission for Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBCH) from Kampala University medical school in Uganda.
The bright girl will now pursue the course of her dream after governor Jama has intervened to sponsor her to make her dreams a reality.
Jama donated a cheque of Kshs 322,260 to Anisa which is her first semester’s fee at his office in Nairobi. He also pledged to settle her school fees fully using the County’s bursary kitty.
The governor said he was moved by her story highlighted by well wishers.
He further added that he phoned Anisa immediately he was informed about her story and she told him that she received admission and the deadline for admission was due.
He then directed County officials to pick her from Garissa and bring her to his Nairobi office to extend his helping hand so that she can pursue her dream course.
Anisa who is expected to travel to Uganda to attend Kampala University school of Medicine in western Uganda has thanked Governor Jama for coming to her rescue.
She also thanked all social media groups and friends who publicized her need before receiving support from the county leadership.
