Garissa dancers forced off stage after staging performance critical of County administration

By NJ Correspondent:

A group of women dancers were today forced off stage during Jamhuri day celebrations at Garissa primary school grounds in Garissa town.

County Askaris, Chiefs and police ordered out the famous band Gargaar traditional dancers after staging performances critical of the County administration’s service delivery.

It was not clear who gave instructions to kick them out but if the silence of top county officials gracing the occasion was anything to go by, the orders may have come ‘from above’.

Just last week, Deputy President William Ruto was heckled by rowdy youth on the same venue during a tour of Garissa town accompanied by area MP and Majority leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale.
