Medics at Garissa County hospital had a hectic day attending to the large number of casualties from the Garissa University college attack.

All officers on leave were recalled and volunteers also called in to help manage the situation.

Normal hospital operations were interrupted and all minor medical cases referred elsewhere or suspended.

Makeshift blood donation centers were set up with tree shade coming in handy.
