Garissa Township MP and National Assembly Majority leader, Hon. Aden Duale has officially endorsed former Provincial Administrator Ali Bunow Korane for Garissa Gubernatorial seat.
In a thanksgiving ceremony that was held at Bour Algy Primary School Garissa County on Saturday, Abudwak Community unanimously endorsed Ali Bunow to challenge the incumbent governor for 2017 elections.
Korane’s endorsement as the candidate for Garissa County Gubernatorial seat for 2017 elections might limit the possibility of Duale retaining his seat for Garissa Township MP given that they are both from Yahye sub-sub-clan of the Abudwak Sub-clan.
Although, Duale didn’t give any signs that Korane might be obstacle to his re-election despite this seemingly predicting his void to retain the seat.
Korane who is only flag bearer from his Abudwak community endorsed for 2017 Garissa Gubernatorial seat is set to contest under the Jubilee Party ticket.
The ceremonial event was graced by political, religious and community leaders among them Sultan Dekow Maalim Sambul of Abudwak community.
“Today’s event also marks the beginning of wider campaign strategy to seek support and endorsement from all communities and stakeholders in Garissa County,” Duale.
He added that unity of the community and negotiated programmes to set the winning formula and strategy for both county and national seats for the community was highly discussed.
In his Facebook timeline, Duale stated that Korane is his candidate of choice for the Garissa Gubernatorial seat come 2017 elections.
He added that the journey of selling Mr Korane’s candidature to the rest of the communities across all clans, region of origin and faith to consolidate his support base has been launched.
Korane and Duale who accused the county administration over widespread corruption that has crippled services under Governor Nathif Jama have set themselves to battle backdrop of Korane’s new leadership.
