Deputy President William Ruto with Garissa Township MP Duale and other leaders in his recent visit to Garissa town to popularize the Jubilee Party. The duo held a rally at Garissa primary school grounds on Monday December 5, 2016.

Deputy President William Ruto who visited Garissa town to popularize Jubilee campaign trail on Sunday afternoon was humiliated by Garissa residents.

Ruto and Duale team were faced with public fiasco as shocking and shameful incidents took centre stage at Garissa primary school playground as Cord name rented the air in Garissa town on Monday.

Ruto was embarrassed by Cord supporters after they booed and chased him from Garissa Primary school while staging a campaign tool trade for Garissa Township MP, Aden Duale.

Youth who attended the rally turned hostile as a sign of disloyalty to Jubilee Governments.

Massive Garissa youth brigade were seen burning and tearing off Jubilee branded T-shirts a cross, others painting smearing the shirts with human blood signifying the extra-judicial killings and human right violations the Jubilee administration is alleged to have committed in North Eastern region and the Country as whole.

Garissa Youth Chairman, Mr. Kusow Mohamed who was leading the Youth in protest told NEP Journal that the Current visit by Deputy President isn’t a development oriented visit but more on a divisive and a political one that only favours the current Garissa Township MP Aden Duale in outshining the county leadership.

“When Ruto tried to raise the political anthem of the ruling party, he was shocked to hear the crowd responding the name of Joho, Raila and the Cord political supremos,” said Kusow.

“You can’t use Garissa resident as an extra political advantage while at same time they were marginalized under their leadership. The region faced underdevelopment by successive government while other regions such as Central Kenya and Rift valley where the president and his deputy originate respectively enjoy multi-billions worth Government projects. The deputy presidents should consult the county resident at large and not only sitting with selected family members in support of Duale,” Kusow added.

Garissa county leaders led by Yusuf Haji (Senators, Garissa), Elyas Bare (Fafi MP) and Mohamed Shidiye (Lagdera MP) were all seen leaving the Garissa Primary ground with their faces covered in shame while Ruto was still on the podium addressing imaginary Jubilee supporters.

The intervention of the security personnel couldn’t either help appease the rowdy crowds, which were all shouting Cord supermos an indication that selling Jubilee to Garissa people is like selling pork in Saudi Arabia with placards.

The country is not immune to political intolerance and violence during electioneering period.

With all this happening as we gear towards the electioneering period giving an indication that citizens are unhappy with Jubilee administrations riddled with corruption and poor local leadership.
