Bringing back the lost glory-Garissa Football

By Yunis Dekow:

Football remains the most pursed and played sport in Nothern Kenya particularly in Garissa County but the energy has not been replicated outside the Region.

Talents has been wasted in what many attribute to poor leadership that has existed for decades.

Tournament and leagues were only common at times of elections, when Politicians used sport as a tool to win the hearts of the Garissa youth.

Apparently things seem to have changed with an ongoing Garissa league, where more than 20 clubs are represented.

Towards the end of last year, football clubs in Garissa elected Noordin Bedel Tube as the Garissa sub-district Football Kenya Federation boss and in less than three months he transformed the game.

Garissa town has an ongoing football league with 20 teams. The league is believed to be the most competitive after the Kenya Premier league with football legend like Nasirow (former Almansuur) , Dekow ( former Al mujahidin) and many others featuring in the game.

Mo Town are currently leading the league with 6 points after beating Black starts 4-0 today.

Second placed White Eagles are scheduled to play against Sunnah Fc at Garissa primary school grounds today at 4:30 pm.
