More bloodshed in Mandera as tribal animosity escalates

News just in indicates that three people were killed and five others injured in Baricha area of Takaba Subcounty in Mandera.

A peace and reconciliation meeting is currently going on in Kutulo – Mandera attended by elders and political leaders from the two warring clans.

The tribal animosity between the Degodia and Garre communities was re-ignited after three laborers working on a road project were kill in Ogaralle area in Wajir County recently and retaliatory attack in Rhamu.

In a similar incident, three vehicles ferrying Miraa to Mandera were hijacked and another vehicle burnt to ashes by suspected Al-shabaab gunmen.

It is also reported that a delegation of security officials and elders from Mandera were ambushed along the same road of Arabia on their way to the Kutulo peace meeting.

At Nepjournal, we condole with all those who lost their loved ones and wish the injured quick recovery.

We also appeal to all those concerned to bring the clashes to an immediate end. Please stop the bloodshed! Let us all preach peace.
