At least ten people including seven militants and three Somalia’s Military forces were killed in an overnight raid by suspected Al-Shabaab fighters in southern Somalia port of city of Barawe, military officials confirms.
Somalia’s Col Abdirahman Rooble Jimaale has told news agencies that the fight erupted after Al-Shabaab fighters launched an attack in a military barracks located in the coastal town.
He added that the fight lasted around two hours of gunfight exchange.
However, AMISOM forces who occupy nearby bases in Barawe town didn’t offer any help to Somali forces who exchanged gunfight with the militants nearly two hours.
Al-Shabaab has been in decline since 2011, but still control some areas and launches regular, deadly attacks against government, military and civilian targets in the capital and elsewhere.
