At least 20 killed in deadly Mogadishu blast

Up to 20 people have been confirmed dead in a deadly car bomb at a police checkpoint next to a busy market in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Saturday. Several others were injured.

Eye witnesses said most of the dead people were civilians who were on board minibus at the time of explosions and grocery vendors at a nearby market.

The markets is meters away from Somalia’s biggest military air force complex Known as Afessoni base in Waberi District of Mogadishu.

President Hassan Sheihk Mohamud of Somalia was giving a speech at the nearby Somali national University at the time of attack.
