Amina Mohamed hand-picked as a UN advisor

The united nation General Assembly President Miroslav Lajcák has picked the Kenyan foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed as one of his advisor, Amina will serve as external advisors to Miroslav Lajcák.

She is among 15 eminent personalities hand-picked by the UN General Assembly President Miroslav Lajcák. Only two persons including  are from Africa continent, Kenyan’s Amina Mohamed and Guinea Bissau’s Carlos Lopes .Amina has welcomed her appointments saying it is honor to her and to her and to her country.

“Each one of us, through this role, is a vital part of  our future and that of our children. Our common goal is to focus on our people, to strive for peace and deliver a decent life for all in a sustainable planet,” CS Amina said.

Amina will attend her first meeting as as external advisors to Miroslav Lajcák on Friday, the agenda in the meeting will mainly focus on peace, climate change and the sustainable development goals.

“Those priorities include mediation, conflict prevention and sustaining peace; migration; implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement on climate change; human rights and human dignity; and the future and reform of the United Nations,” a statement from the UN reads. Ambassador Mohamed has huge experience in navigating the diplomatic settings and worked for the united nation previously.
