Girls in secondary schools in Wajir have a reason to smile following an initiative by the County Government to provide them with sanitary towels.

Wajir County Governor Ahmed Abdullahi and Women MP Hon. Fatuma Ibrahim launched the program today at the Education department’s offices in Wajir.

The project is aimed at keeping the girls in Schools and is targeted at all mixed and girls only schools in the county.

Governor Abdullahi said that his administration will extend a helping hand even though the education docket is not fully devolved.

This comes as the second proposal to be implemented following recommendations by the Education Conference that was held in mid June 2014.

The County Government has previously launched joint mock examinations for all schools in the county in a bid to enhance performance in National examinations.
