Al-shabaab has confirmed the death of top commander Mohamed Dulyadeyn Kuno alias Gamadere weeks after he was killed by Somali special forces near Kismayu.
In a statement on Pro – Al shabaab media, the group celebrated the life of the slain commander who is believed to be the mastermind of the deadly April 2, 2015 Garissa University attack.
Dulyadeyn was born in the North Eastern Kenya town of Garissa in 1966 and studied Shariah in Sudan before joining the Jihadi ranks in the early nineties according to the statement by the militants.
The group said the killing of its top leadership will not deter them from fighting their ‘enemy’ but will rather boost their morale.
Kuno was killed in a carefully executed operation on June 1, 2016 as he left Bula Gaduud, near the Jubbaland headquarters of Kismayu.
