Al Shabaab militant group has on Saturday claimed responsibility for Friday morning’s attack on two Mandera bound buses on the Elwak-Wargadud route.
One member of Kenya police reservists and five civilians died in the attack while several others were injured.
Through its FM Radio Andalus, the militant group’s spokesman for military operations Abu Musab said they carried out the attack.
“We attacked two buses at around 9am, one escaped but we managed to attack the second one and killed six people and injured several others.
He added that one among the six they killed was Kenyan police officer which was their target in revenge of Kenyan Defense forces operations in Somalia.
