By Nep Journal Correspondent:

a light up street in Garissa.

Residents of Garissa town could soon be working round the clock after a major national government flagship project was initiated in the town.

The Mwangaza Mtaani (Street lighting) Programme implemented by Kenya Power has seen huge flash lights erected along major streets in the town.

Majority leader Aden Duale who is also the Garissa Township MP inspected the project over the weekend when he visited the town in a meet-the-people tour.

Duale said the project will improve security in the town hence enabling local residents to go do businesses even during the night.

The project’s launch comes ahead of another mega electricity project set to be launched in the town later in March.

Garissa will be connected to the national grid for the first time since independence.

Duale said President Uhuru Kenyatta will commission the project.
